Transformations: Visual Representations of Changing States is a group exhibition curated by Julie Gautier-Downes featuring works by Richmond Art Collective members. In physics, transformation is defined as the induced or spontaneous change of one element into another. As artists, we transform raw, found materials into resolved art objects. Collectively, we aspire to inspire our viewers to consider new perspectives, realities, and narratives. To do this successfully requires experience with the chosen medium, but also an openness to the possibilities of a blank canvas, found object, chemical process, or seemingly banal moment and the dedication to see it through to completion.
