Who We Are:
Richmond Art Collective (RAC) is a dynamic community of multi-disciplinary artists, designers, curators, and radical thinkers practicing in the Spokane area. Our mission is to create, foster, and preserve affordable and sustainable exhibition and studio space for artists in Spokane, Washington. RAC is located at 228 W. Sprague Ave in the historic, repurposed Richmond Hotel building, and is comprised of a studio floor with semi-private units and an exhibition space at street level. Our member artists hold a common belief in the value of craftsmanship, vision, equity, knowledge, and skill-sharing, as well as in the success of the individual through the efforts of the whole.
What We Offer:
Secure, semi-private studio areas
Multiple curated group exhibits per year
Quarterly open studio events
In-house workshops, skill-shares, critiques
Community kitchen facilities
Collaborative service-project opportunities
Digital Lab (with medium and large format printers)
How It Works:
Member artists are admitted on an annual basis and are selected by jury. Guaranteed tenancy is one year, after which existing members must reapply. Admitted members contribute a fixed monthly membership fee of $250, which includes 24-hour access to a semi-private studio, community darkroom, balcony, restroom, and community kitchen facilities; multiple themed group-exhibition and event opportunities per year at Richmond Gallery; contribution to shared electrical utilities, and participation in RAC’s various programs and events.
The vitality of our community is a shared responsibility. All members therefore participate in RAC’s quarterly open studio potluck “Family Dinner,” and in scheduled group exhibits (non-visual artists will be asked to deliver workshops, readings, presentations, or skill-share sessions instead). Community engagement and outreach is undertaken by all members.
